Amazing Andaman

In the year 2012, I visited Andaman and Nicobar islands a dream destination for many. Took the evening flight to Port Blair from Mumbai via Chennai to Port Blair. There was a overnight stop at Chennai airport one can easily get room for a stayover there if you show your boarding tickets at a minimal costs at the airport itself. Our flight was around 7 am in the morning after a relaxing stayover and delicious breakfast we headed towards our flight.

The amazing journey begins. Landed at Port Blair airport a small but well maintained airport headed towards our hotel Sea Shell resort and spa after check in and few hours of relaxation went to explore the city.

Main attractions is Cellular jail or kala pani  there we saw an amazing night show.. If one is interested in history will love it.

If you have gone to Andaman and didn’t do scuba diving, snorkelling  you are really missing something. There are several small islands in Andaman like Havelock Island, Ross Island.

We visited Havelock island and the only way to go there is only by cruise and if you have sea sickness like me please carry orange candies and your vomit medicines along with you. it was a 1hour ride with beautiful view. Here we have arrived now. There are many beautiful cottages around surrounded by clear crystal beaches. Andaman is famous for its clear and crystal beaches.

I have spent 3 days in Havelock island just around beaches seeing beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The dream of doing Scuba diving got fulfilled. It costed around 10K per person for scuba diving with instructor accompanying along with us. First they teach sign languages to communicate within the sea and how to breathe underwater with oxygen masks. Through ferry they took us to the point in the sea where we will be able to find these beautiful creatures and a deep dive in sea for a non-swimmer like me was an accomplishment. It was a beautiful view underwater with corals and reefs all around beautiful fishes sailing around you. An instructor clicked a photo too for me along with the coral, fishes. One can touch, feel them but be gentle else they might bite you…a memory to cherish. So after a tiring day we returned to our cottage.

Food options are good for people who loves sea food. For vegetarian like me there are less options and might have to just survive on french fries, toast and coconut water.

A 3 days trip to Havelock island comes to an end with memories locked in our minds forever. Back to Port Blair and boarded our flight for Mumbai. 7 days trip to Andaman is must to explore this beautiful island.

Andaman is a must visit tourist place. Would recommend minimum 7days. One should cover Havelock and Ross islands. They have the cleanest beaches in Asia. Do carry your medicines, sunscreens along with you. Best time to visit is in the month of December weather is neither hot or cold.

Have fun.
